Biggin Hill International Airshow 2008
Biggin Hill International Air Fair 2008

Biggin Hill International Airshow, June 8th 2008

Blue skies and proper summer temperatures set Biggin Hill apart from practically every other UK airshow in 2008. This famous airfield became the first to host a UK display of the Indian Sarang helicopter display team - just one item on a varied display schedule that included a 1910 Thulin A (Bleriot XI) from aviation's early years through to the modern era and the RAF's Typhoon.
Helping to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Air Force, many of the show items were drawn from the RAF, from trainers like the Tucano and Hawk to fast jets like the Tornado and Typhoon and heavies like the E3 Sentry taking part in the explosive tactical role demonstration. Warbird fans were kept happy with the inclusion of a pair of Mustangs and the Mitchell of the Dukes of Brabant's Air Force as well as the Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Vintage jet displays from a Meteor, Hunter, Hawker Sea Hawk and F-86 Sabre complemented those of the modern jets like the French AF Mirage 2000 and, with display teams like the Blades, Breitling Jet Team and Team Guinot wingwalkers, the organisers of the International Air Fair ensured there was something for everyone with perhaps, for many people, the star of this year's show being the British Eagle liveried DC-6.
